
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD’s Chiney Ogwumike was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 9-15, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. She averaged a double-double of 15.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in the Cardinal’s road sweep of Utah and Colorado.
The sophomore forward from Cypress, Texas, opened the weekend with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in Stanford’s 62-43 win over Utah on Thursday. She also added four assists, two blocks and one steal. Ogwumike followed up with 19 points, nine rebounds and two assists in Saturday’s 80-54 win at Colorado. For the weekend, Ogwumike shot 63.2 percent from the field.
This is Ogwumike’s first career Player of the Week honor and Stanford’s 82nd all-time.
The fourth-ranked Cardinal host Washington State on Thursday, Jan. 19 and Washington on Saturday, Jan. 21.
